New Jersey

After leaving Fairport on Monday (with an extremely packed car), John and I have had an eventful time in New Jersey so far.  We arrived at my mom’s house Monday afternoon, and sorted through our stuff, because the car was too full with all that we had in it.  We were able to go eliminate a lot of our kitchen items and have even sold some on Criagslist already, which is awesome!  I was really bummed to have to get rid of some of my favorite pots and pans, but as you can see from the pic, the passenger seat was just too full and not a comfortable scenario for our upcoming road trip where we will be spending a substantial amount of time in the car.  Once we arrived at my mom’s house, she hosted a great family dinner!  It was an amazing way to start our visit and was awesome to see my family as soon as we arrived!

Tuesday we woke up, ran some errands, and then had a delicious lunch of stuffed peppers, eggplant, and grape leaves at my grandparents’ house.  For dinner, John and I went to my dad’s house, where we were greeted by more good food – salmon, rack of lamb, mashed potatoes, asparagus, cauliflower, and fried eggplant.  One thing this trip has not been lacking in is delicious food – John and I are probably going to gain ten pounds each by the time we reach California!

Today was an eventful day, as well.  John and I woke up and got delicious “everything” bagels with fresh chive cream cheese (John has been waiting for one of these bagels since the last time we were in NJ!), and Christina arrived home from school – she was able to skip out on her last few days on campus before spring break, so it’s been great to be able to hang out with her a bit before her and her boyfriend leave for Florida this weekend.

After indulging in our very carb-enriched breakfast, we went to my aunt’s salon (shout out to Blu Salon in Edgewater!!), where she gave me a gorgeous haircut!  It was also amazing to be able to see all my friends from the salon, since I used to work there.  After visiting at the salon, we walked down to the Hudson River, and were able to take some gorgeous shots of the city.  It was a beautiful day here, about 45 degrees, sunny, and crystal clear, so we were able to enjoy the view of the scenery from the NJ side of the river.

This evening, my grandparents Yiayia and Papou, ("grandma" and "grandpa" in Greek), had us over for another delicious corned beef meal – you can never eat too much corned beef!  Like our corned beef dinner on Sunday, the food tonight was amazing and we had a blast hanging out with one another before and after our meal.  It has been great to be able to spend so much time with family and friends while in Rochester and NJ!  Below are some pics of John and I with my family :-)
