Day at the Beach

Spent the day at the beach, I live in paradise!

Great Friday Celebrating Our New Jobs

Today I had a fun lunch with the three other girls that I work with.  We went to a delicious place called Zanzibar's and had some fun drinks and good food.  On the way to the restaurant for lunch, we passed by a man and his pet pig, Hamilton.  I took a picture with him!  His fur was so prickly, but I thought he was cute!

After work, John and I got ready for our delicious dinner that we had planned.  We went to an outstanding restaurant called Island Prime to celebrate our new jobs and my house closing a few weeks ago.  We have a lot to celebrate and be thankful for, as we have only been in San Diego two months and are both already working full time!  Island Prime had some delicious food, every dish being delivered to tables around us caught our eye.  We were finally able to decide on what to eat, and I ordered a Lobster Bisque and a Scallop entree, while John chose an escargot appetizer and the most amazing pork chop.  The restaurant was right on the water and we got a table right next to one of the giant windows that gave us the perfect view of the gorgeous sunset.  We even got to witness someone propose to his girlfriend while eating dinner, and she said yes!  It was really cute.

Love this skyline

The view out the window from our table at our celebratory dinner and a picture of my scrumptious lobster bisque.

On the left is John's escargot appetizer, it was delicious, escargot baked under a puff pastry - think chicken pot pie only wayyyyy better.  And the picture on the right is of two of my delicious scallops over crusted risotto.  Deliciousness, can't wait to indulge in my leftovers!

A pic of John's pork chops on the left, they were deliciously matched with bacon, baked apples, and grapes.  Upon exiting the restaurant, we noticed fireworks in the distance above the city skyline and decided to stick around to watch.  It was a great ending to a simply outstanding day!

This Past Week in Sunny SD

On Sunday John and I had a blast in the park again!  We packed a picnic, some cards, and a few towels, spread out in the grass, and had a fabulous afternoon in the park soaking up the sun's delightful rays and enjoying one another's company!  The weather here is continually gorgeous, it has still rained only once since we got here on April 20th!  Isn't that wild!?  We definitely can not complain about the weather EVER while we're living here in San Diego!

In the picture above on the left is one of the many planes that flies over our apartment each day.  We've gotten used to their noise, but when we first arrived were so surprised by how low they fly in to the airport downtown - that pic isn't zoomed in at all!  The middle picture is of my sweet, new business cards at digital-telepathy.  And lastly, the pic on the right is a funny note that my boss left me this past week.  Just to give you an idea of the amazing job I now have :-P

One of my job duties at DT is to plan birthday and anniversary celebrations.  I'll explain the method to my madness first and then tell you how we celebrated the first DT Birthday since I started.  Regular birthday events (singing happy bday and getting a cake), don't have very positive results on morale.  The action becomes expected and planned and sometimes there's even hard feelings involved (i.e. why was his cake better than mine?).  Unexpected motivation from management works really well and increases the "I work at an awesome place, the management is great and really cares" mentality.  A great example of this would be a company that could really use a new/better coffee machine, but instead, gets occasional coffee from a local shop of Starbucks every few weeks to enforce the "we care about you" mentality - the whole office is thrilled with the purchased coffee and everyone is brought back to the "I work at a really cool place" thought process.  If you're a manager, try it out.  So far it's been working great in our office at DT!

To celebrate our two June birthdays, I planned a piñata surprise as a test run for my idea.  My boss and I went to a totally legit Mexican piñata store, bought the best and biggest Darth Vader piñata I've ever seen for $17 (!!! only $17), and surprised the team with it.  Everyone loved it, everybody was able to participate, and morale was totally enforced!  Thought I'd post some pics to show you the great time we had!  The pic on the left is us doing yoga at DT yesterday after work.  Jealous of my new job yet?  I'm just livin' the dream :)

Padres vs. Dodgers Game

One of my job duties at digital-telepathy is organizing monthly team building activities! Last night we got to enjoy the first "Third Thursday" activity that I planned and organized- the SD Padres vs. LA Dodgers! Although John and I aren't huge baseball fans, we had a blast hanging out with my new coworkers and enjoying the game!

John Starts His New Job on Monday!

Thought I'd do a quick post to let you all know that John starts work on Monday! He's been waiting since he got the offer to find out when he'd be starting, so we were pumped to find out! After getting the job offer, he didn't have applications to fill up his days, so he's been getting a little bored with so many video games :-P So proud of him for securing this job and pumped for his soon-to-be first day of work!! Weekend celebrations are in order!

A Day in the Park

Just a few pictures of our gorgeous afternoon in the park! The ice cream man even came around with his cart today!  Best part is, they're only $1.00!

Koalafornia at the SD Zoo

Yesterday John and I checked out the San Diego Zoo again, this time to see the new exhibit- Koalafornia!  It was really fun, the koalas were so cute!! Although they were mostly sleeping, there were one or two slightly moving, so I was able to snap pictures of their cute little faces! I wanted to bring one home with me!  We were also able to catch one of the zookeepers’ information sessions about cheetahs.  Not only was the zookeeper talking about cheetahs, she was PETTING a cheetah!  Now I have a new life aspiration – I want a cheetah!  Haha, just kidding!

Since we ran all of our errands yesterday morning, John and I are going to spend today relaxing. We're going to pack a picnic and a blanket and spend our afternoon at the park! It's another gorgeous San Diego day so we want to get out there and enjoy it!

Happy Fathers Day readers, enjoy the day!

We had In-N-Out Burger for the first time since we moved!
