A Day in the Park

Just a few pictures of our gorgeous afternoon in the park! The ice cream man even came around with his cart today!  Best part is, they're only $1.00!

Koalafornia at the SD Zoo

Yesterday John and I checked out the San Diego Zoo again, this time to see the new exhibit- Koalafornia!  It was really fun, the koalas were so cute!! Although they were mostly sleeping, there were one or two slightly moving, so I was able to snap pictures of their cute little faces! I wanted to bring one home with me!  We were also able to catch one of the zookeepers’ information sessions about cheetahs.  Not only was the zookeeper talking about cheetahs, she was PETTING a cheetah!  Now I have a new life aspiration – I want a cheetah!  Haha, just kidding!

Since we ran all of our errands yesterday morning, John and I are going to spend today relaxing. We're going to pack a picnic and a blanket and spend our afternoon at the park! It's another gorgeous San Diego day so we want to get out there and enjoy it!

Happy Fathers Day readers, enjoy the day!

We had In-N-Out Burger for the first time since we moved!

John's Job Offer and a Celebratory Weekend!

John and I had a fantastic week!  We ate at my favorite San Diego sushi place, Sushi Deli on Tuesday after work, and JOHN GOT A JOB OFFER on Friday!!!  I thought having the sushi was fabulous, but when John called me at work on Friday with the good news I was so pumped!

He will be working at a Real Estate company as a Real Estate Assistant.  He is really pumped because he was hoping to get into the real estate field as the next step of his career.  Aside from assisting, he will be coming up with process improvements and thinking of creative ways to better the business.  His workplace culture seems vey similar to my job, and he is excited to start working – he might even start this week!  His new company expects him to become a licensed Real Estate Agent within one year and I may even take the real estate course with him so we can both obtain our real estate licenses!  I’d love to get into real estate in addition to working at DT.

John and I had a fun weekend celebrating his job offer.  We are planning a celebratory dinner together, but unfortunately weren’t able to get a reservation this past weekend, so we celebrated by doing other things!  On Sunday we enjoyed the San Diego Greek festival!  Although not as impressive as the Greek festival at Yiayia and Papou’s church in New Jersey, it was still fun!

Delicious spanakopita, loukoumades, and dolmades

John’s friend Zach was visiting San Diego with his family, so after the festival, John and I headed over to Balboa Park to meet up with them and give them a tour of one of our favorite San Diego spots.  John also had a great time surfing with Zach and his family on Friday while I was at work.

So far, John and I have been so successful on our journey!  Just 15 weeks ago I was sitting at my desk at Citi, unable to see out the window above my cube walls.  Now, I possess memories of seven weeks of adventure, my boyfriend and I have both secured exceptional jobs, I’m living in a city with seemingly perfect weather, and I have nothing but exploration ahead of me!

Mission Beach and My First Week of Work

I know it has been a week since I've written, but I've been trying to get situated in my new job.  I love my job so far!  Like I said before, I am the Manager of Company Culture, and have so many responsibilities already - I haven't been bored even for a minute since I started.  It is a really awesome position - seemingly designed to fit the qualifications of my dream job!  For example, some of my responsibilities include planning all birthdays, planning the monthly team-building event (like bowling, go-karts, etc.), decorating the new office, researching ways to improve the workplace, and reinforce the company culture so that every employee enjoys coming to work on a day-to-day basis. It's awesome!

John's been waiting to hear on a few possibilities, and he had a second interview last week that we are still waiting to hear back from.  We're keeping our fingers crossed, as it would be great if he was able to find a job so quickly, too!  We are settling in nicely, and truly enjoying San Diego!  Remember, now that we are permanently staying here, it's time to start planning your visits!

This past weekend, John and I had a really great time exploring Mission Beach, and a little bit of La Jolla Beach.  The day was a bit chilly, so we decided not to do a beach day, but hiked around Mission Point, venturing all the way to the bay.  We really enjoyed walking past all of the houses along the beach, and were entertained by some partiers in their front yards.

One of the really cool things to do on Mission Point is go to the Wave House, where you can ride on a simulated huge wave.  Although we didn’t do it ourselves, it was really awesome to watch some of the people trying it out and John is hoping to do it in the future!  It seems really neat; I took a couple of videos so you could see how cool it is!

After walking around all morning, John and I decided to check out a really awesome deli on Mission Blvd called The Rubicon Deli.  I had a deluxe Grilled Cheese, which was to die for – several kinds of cheeses including smoked Gouda, avocado, tomato, a spicy dressing!  It was delicious!  John made his own sandwich, a scrumptious combination of ham, vegetables, bacon, pickles, etc.  He got a full sandwich (while I got a half), and his was humongous!  He still surprises me with how much he can eat sometimes!

After our lunch, we walked around Mission Beach area a bit more and then took a drive to La Jolla.  It was a really great day, and it is still so surreal to be living in such a beautiful area!  We love it out here!  Sunday was a bit boring, we got some chores done, ran some errands, and I finally went shopping!  I didn’t buy too much, but did purchase some cute new things for work!

Keep your fingers crossed for John, hopefully I’ll have some good news to report soon!
