Penthouse Penthouse!

The View from the Penthouse Penthouse!

Hello All!  I know you have all been waiting for a post about our new apartment, the Penthouse Penhouse!  I'm sorry this is several days late, but as I'm sure you know, moving is always super chaotic and not as fun as one would hope.  However, unpacking felt AMAZING!  Even though we didn't have too much to unpack, just being able to unpack my suitcase and see it EMPTY after EIGHT MONTHS was pretty much the most glorious feeling ever.  And on top of that, we unwrapped all our vacuumed clothes, unpacked our few totes, and it is amazing to have more than 3 weeks of available outfits!!!
Pic on the left is of our old apartment as we packed up and the pic on the
right is how nice and clean it was once we were done :)

Last pic taken in our old apartment, mid-move

Saturday we got an early start and were at our new apartment complex to get our keys when they opened at 8:30.  Even though we got here with one carload puzzle-pieced together, it took 6 carloads to get our stuff and everything we had accumulated furniture-wise over the last few weeks.  We had acquired a bunch of items that had been building up around our old apartment, so the extra carloads were to be expected.
After moving all of our belongings from our old apartment to new, we had to completely clean our old apartment and then "check-out" at their main office.  After that, we spent the remainder of Saturday night unpacking.  It was an extremely long 14-hour moving day.  By 10 PM we were burned out and spent the night really enjoying our new memory-foam mattress.

You can see the mountains in the distance from the Penthouse Penthouse balcony

The view is even sick at night

A series of unpacking photos

Sunday was really fun.  John and I unpacked all day and in the afternoon we went to Ikea for some stuff that we needed.  The reason this blog post was delayed is because Monday night after work we had a 2-carriage, 3 hour shopping trip at Walmart (fun, fun), and last night had a large food shopping trip.  Thankfully, tonight we don't have errands and are planning on trying to build some of our new furniture and getting to bed early.  We've both been so exhausted from our strenuous weekend and beginning of the week.

On a different topic, since arriving in San Diego, John and I have been making "resolutions" for ourselves.  (No one said you can't make resolutions during the year instead of on New Years and we're really focusing on leading a positive, fulfilling lifestyle here in San Diego :)  Some of ours are things like: Keeping in touch with friends and family back home, make our bed every day, stay organized, etc.  And our newest one is to wake up at 6AM Monday through Friday to work out.  Our apartment building has a really awesome gym, which is honestly one of the major reasons we chose the complex.  Starting Monday we began our new habit, and although still tired from the weekend, we've been doing well keeping at it.  It's a great new resolution that we're going to (try to) stick with!

We haven't had much time to explore our new location yet, but it's in a great spot near 9th and A (check out a map!) right in Downtown San Diego.  The location is awesome!  It's a 7-block walk for me to get to work, we are able to walk anywhere downtown, we can walk to Balboa park and the bay, we can walk to Little Italy, and it's even 5 minutes closer to the highway, so John was able to cut down his commute by a few minutes, and we're even a little closer to the beach!

Our nicely organized new closet!

Next steps for us are: getting Boots, and getting settled.  More pics of the apartment to come once we unpack a little more and it starts looking cool!  The view is amazing, I can't wait until you all visit! Stay tuned for pics of our walks and adventures that are soon to come once we finish unpacking!  Thanks for reading, missing you all <3

Found Zapp's chips at a pizza place just blocks from our new apartment (our first dinner at our new place was complemented with these bad boys).  I have been looking for these since we left New Orleans several months ago and haven't wanted to buy a full case of them for myself.  I don't really believe in signs, but if this was one, we're in for a great year at the Penthouse Penthouse!  And if you ever come across Zapp's chips - buy them and eat them and enjoy the heck out of them.  Best potato chips ever!
