A San Diego Thanksgiving

John and I had a great Thanksgiving at our friends Jed and Jamile’s house.  We joined them and several of their other friends for a delightful afternoon of indulging in delicious food and refreshing drinks, followed by a fun campfire!

It was a gorgeous day here in San Diego, and it was strange for John and I to be enjoying Thanksgiving in seventy-degree weather!  Instead of bundling up for fall, it was almost as though Thanksgiving had turned into a barbeque!  It was so funny!  Today is December 1, and it was seventy-five degrees out!  And I’m honestly not trying to rub it in (although I’m sorry because I know you’re all jealous), but I’m just so mindblown that it is still so warm out!

John and I have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!  2013 has certainly been one hell of a year!  We started 2013 out in Buffalo, quit our jobs at Citi, sold our house, car, and most of our belongings, traveled the country for seven weeks and arrived in San Diego safely at the end of April.  Within two months, John and I had both found amazing jobs and realized our temporary location was in the perfect location to share our one car.  In August we found our dream apartment and jokingly refer to it as the Penthouse Penthouse, she’s been good to us so far and I am thankful for the view I have every morning.  After having survived 7 weeks together in the car without killing each other and becoming better friends than we ever thought possible, John thought it was time to pop the question, and we got engaged in October.  I’m so thankful that in him, I’ve found such love and friendship.  And I’m thankful for our families and friends, who have had our backs through all of our crazy decisions and still support us every day even though we’re 2,500 miles away.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
